Café Des Amis

Yes, it's true. I often leave my children at home with nothing more to eat than a bowl of pasta. This time we just happened to have a few mini-sausages and a gift of ripe strawberries from another CSA member, which inched their meal's nutritional content above moderately sub-par. Plus, our babysitter was thoughtful enough to bring cake pops to celebrate my son's birthday!
A good situation for all involved, my husband and I headed out on the town. To Café Des Amis, our favorite place for dinner and a drink when we are in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco.
Last night we shared the Calamari Frits and I had my own Butter Lettuce Salad. Des Amis' calamari is always delicious and the salad made a nice, light-ish meal. It is, essentially, half a head of butter lettuce with dijon vinaigrette and fresh tarragon. Simple, classic, and leaves room for me to try all the things my husband orders.
As usual, he had the Salade Lyonnaise, which comes with bacon lardons and a poached egg. And for something new, Mussels Marinière. Yum! Try it out.
