Slow Cooker Menus: Simply Delicious Dinners for Weeknights
Cuisine at Home - march 1, 2010
Slow cooker recipes are notoriously old fashioned, packed full of things like cream of mushroom soup and other processed delicacies. So it was refreshing to find recipes for the crockpot that are made from scratch! Published way back in 2009, this book was on the cusp of a trend, thankfully slow cooking has come a long way since then.
The best thing about this book is that each slow cooker recipe also has at least one recipe for recommended accompaniments, to truly make it into a meal. Many vegetables don't tend to turn out well in the slow cooker, so most of them are quick sautés or starches. One of my family's slow cooker favorites is from this book, Asian Short Ribs, and I always serve it with the recommended sautéed greens and rice.
