I have tried for many years to get my children to like noodles with peanut butter sauce. All eight million of the recipes I've used are easy to make and usually taste pretty good, but my kids just won't. This one was no exception, though the sauce tops any other recipe I've made so far.

Avocado, cucumber, feta, olive oil and spicy chili for a kick. I love this for lunch, for me, especially since one avocado is enough for two days. Haven't tried serving it to my kids yet, though they might enjoy having the choice of what to include.  Except that one of them doesn't like lettuce, cucumber or avocado.

I discovered Waitrose Kitchen magazine while in London with my family last week. I know, everyone always complains about British food. However, these days the Brits seem able to cook up some pretty delicious meals from what's popped up in the back garden. Or allotment. It must be because of that love of gardening they are also known for.

Birthday Crab Rolls - july 2, 2010

My daughter turned five years old yesterday, and what a celebration it was. She had presents from her Grandparents in the morning , singing and candle blowing with a fake cake at school in the afternoon, then dinner with real cake and more presents in the evening. Tomorrow she has another birthday bash (to which we seem to have invited over seventy guests) and still more presents arriving in the mail from her other Grandmother.

My sister, who has for years been living off things like Doritos and Frito-Lay Bean Dip, recently joined a CSA in her town of Tucson, Arizona. She and my Mother share the subscription, and so far have been happily consuming most everything that comes their way, or so they tell me. Until my sister phoned one morning last week, not sure what to do with the bag of wheat berries she'd ended up with.
